First responders worked with a local wrecker and maintenance service technicians to extricate the victim.

However, when the victim was freed, the Coahoma County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.

The man was later identified as 59-year-old Willie Frank Page, of Farrell, Mississippi.

Preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that Page, who was an employee of Coahoma Tire Shop, was replacing a tire on the cotton harvester. Reportedly, during the repairs, the equipment slipped off the blocks supporting it and trapped Page underneath it.

“The Coahoma County Fire Department extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones during this challenging period,” the agency said. “We commend the dedication of all first responders and supporting agencies who provided assistance at the scene.”

According to a statement from the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified of the incident and is assisting in the ongoing investigation.

The incident is being classified as a workplace fatality.
