National search underway for next golden retriever to play ‘Air Bud’ - here’s how to sign up

(CNN) – The casting is open for dogs who want to be the next “Air Bud.”

Cineverse and Air Bud Entertainment announced that “Air Bud Returns,” the 15th installment of the long-running film franchise, is scheduled to come out next year.

However, they need a new golden retriever to play the title role.

Dog owners who think their best friend can be the next Air Bud can sign up at returns.airbud.com.

Even if your dog doesn’t star in the film, every submission is eligible for a variety of prizes up to the movie’s release date.

The first “Air Bud” movie came out in 1997.
