According to District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath, the two clerks placed GPS trackers inside the money packs stolen by Ross.

The trackers allowed officers to locate Ross.

Before his arrest, Ross led a high-speed chase with Ocean Springs and Gautier Police.

That chase went all over Jackson County, including through Pascagoula and Moss Point, before ending in a crash.

McIlrath also said Ross burglarized a home in Pascagoula the week before robbing the Dollar General.

According to a release, Judge Keith Miller sentenced Ross as a “habitual offender.”

“My office prosecutes repeat offenders under Mississippi’s Habitual Offender statutes to ensure that the sentences for their crimes are served day for day,” McIlrath said.

On Wednesday, Ross was sentenced to a total of 40 years, with 20 years to serve in prison without possibility of parole or early release.

Assistant District Attorney Justin Lovorn prosecuted the case.
