It was nice start to the day. We saw a mix of sun and clouds with only a few stray showers. It was also be a little muggier and felt a little warmer. We don’t expect much of a change in our pattern over the next week or so. Friday will start out in the upper 60s and low 70s. It will be partly cloudy with afternoon high temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s. The lower dew point temperatures return by Friday afternoon. We need rain in a serious way. The new drought monitor came out, and we are now in an exceptional drought (5 out of 5) for Harrison County and the rest of South Mississippi is in an extreme drought (4 out of 5). There really isn’t much rain on the horizon either, so the the burn ban remains in effect until further notice.

It was nice start to this Thursday. We will see a mix of sun and clouds with only a slight chance for for a stray shower. High temperatures this afternoon will be in the upper 80s by the coast and lower 90s inland. It will feel a little warmer with heat index values between 95° and 103°. While overall many will say today still feels pretty nice (especially when compared to this past summer’s horrible heat!), it will be a little muggier and feel a little warmer. We don’t expect much of a change in our pattern over the next week or so.

Watching week by week as the drought got worse over Coastal Mississippi. Looking ahead, there's a slight increase in rain chance next week. It'll take more than hit-or-miss showers to bring us any meaningful relief from our drought.
