It is going to be hot again today in South Mississippi with temps in the mid 90s and feels like temps up to 110°. The above-normal heat continues today. A chance for thunderstorms to develop across our region later this afternoon and evening. Some of the thunderstorms could produce gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning. It’s not expected to be quite as hot over the next few days because of more cloud cover and showers. You can plan on steamy start with rain-free hours in the morning but pop-up showers and storms in the afternoon.
This week, a major hurricane in the east Gulf will target Florida with possibly devastating impacts. With Ian off to our east, this will help to pull down drier & cooler air on the MS Coast for us most of this week.
It's going to heat up quickly today, and we'll be back in the low 90s this afternoon. A few isolated showers are possible in the afternoon and evening, but many of us will stay dry. A cold front will bring cooler and drier air by the middle of the week. We're also closely watching Tropical Storm Ian. It could become a major hurricane in the Gulf this week. While its impacts are expected to stay east of us, we're going to monitor it.
