Widespread showers & thunderstorms have fallen in South Mississippi today. We are going to be mostly cloudy with showers and possible thunderstorms this evening. More heavy rain on top of the saturating rain we have already seen could lead to some localized flooding. Friday, we expect more widespread showers and thunderstorms. Saturday, expect scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Widespread downpours & thunderstorms have fallen in South Mississippi this morning. We are going to be mostly cloudy with continued showers and possible thunderstorms for the rest of the day. More heavy rain on top of the saturating rain we have already seen could lead to some localized flooding. Within some of the thunderstorms, downpours and damaging thunderstorms will be possible. Friday, we expect more widespread showers and thunderstorms. Saturday, expect scattered showers and thunderstorms.

There's plenty of moisture in our local atmosphere, thanks in part to a nearby stalled front. This will keep us under a wet weather pattern for the next few days.

It was hot again today with temps in the mid 90s and feels like temps up to 110°. The above-normal heat prompted another Heat Advisory today until 6 PM. We have seen some strong thunderstorms in South Mississippi, and we expect more showers and storms later this evening. Some of the thunderstorms could produce gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning. It’s not expected to be quite as hot over the next few days because of more cloud cover and showers. You can plan on muggy start with rain-free hours but pop-up showers and storms will be likely Thursday and Friday.
