Our streak of gruelingly hot weather is just getting started. Our high temperatures are going to around 100 degrees over the next four days! Inland actual air temperatures are going to range from 100°-104°. Coastal areas will be between 97°-101°. With the high dew point temperatures, the heat index will climb as high as 112°. Take your heat precautions. Drink plenty of water and try to take frequent break inside somewhere with air conditioning. We are going to see more sunshine than showers, but we do have a chance for some isolated to scattered showers across South Mississippi. For those who see rain, it will bring brief relief from the heat. If we see any thunderstorms, they could become strong quickly producing gusty winds and dropping some hail.
By Sunday, the hot high pressure is expected to weaken somewhat and may allow for a gradual change to our weather pattern. We’ll have a better chance for scattered showers by early next week.
It’s still going to be hot and humid today, but we have a better chance for more cloud cover and rain. Highs will top out in the low to mid 90s this afternoon. Scattered showers and storms will be possible. Some of these storms could produce heavy rain and gusty winds.
Today brings us more intense heat and humidity. Highs will be near 100 this afternoon, and the heat index will be as high as 112. No surprise, we’ll be under another Heat Advisory today. There is a chance for some hit or miss showers and storms this afternoon. Those of us that get rain will have some relief from the heat. Others of us will stay dry. More cloud cover and rain on Sunday could lower temperatures.
Extremely dangerous heat will be possible along the Mississippi Coast on Friday thanks to increasingly muggy conditions. Rain chance is slim today but should be higher Sunday, finally bringing relief for many.
