Frank Leach in surgical intensive care unit after hit and run

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Former Jackson County Supervisor Frank Leach is in the Ocean Springs Hospital after a hit-and-run incident outside of his home Friday night. Leach is in stable condition in the intensive care unit.

Ocean Springs Police responded to a call shortly before midnight Friday night to Cherokee Glenn Road.

Leach had been dragged and possibly run over by what police believe is a white Mazda 626, with several white juveniles inside, but say the car could have also been a Nissan.

Officials believe the car was parked in his driveway and Leach tried to approach the vehicle before he was hit and dragged across the ground.

Police are following leads but have not made an arrest in this case.

The people responsible will be charged with aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. If convicted, they would face a minumum of five years in prison.
