Group Encourages South Mississippians To "Vote Smart"
HATTIESBURG (WLOX) -- A campaign that encourages voters to do research before they head to the polls is making stops in South Mississippi. Tuesday, Project Vote Smart brought its message to the University of Southern Mississippi Campus in Hattiesburg.
The non-profit and non-partisan research library provides people with all the information they need to help them choose the best candidates in elections.
"We provide information on candidates and officials on every level of government - city, county, state and federal. And what it is that we do, we provide information like campaign finance, interest groups ratings, issue positions, public speeches and statements, voting records. And we provide all this information for free to the public so they can make informed decisions at the polls, "said Clark Taylor with Project Vote Smart.
Organizers say anyone can use Project Vote Smart by visiting VoteSmart.org.
