The Central Jackson County Shelter in Vancleave. The emergency shelter, located at 5500 Ballpark Road, will open Tuesday, September 4th at noon. A second shelter will be opened at 18413 Hwy 63 in Hurley.

Do Bring:

  • Bedding, a pillow
  • A change of clothing
  • Medications
  • Your child's stuffed animal, blanket or other "lovey"
  • Your emergency kit

Don't Bring:

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Illegal drugs
  • Weapons

Remember, most shelters do not allow you to bring pets, so make arrangements for your animals before coming to the shelter.

Harrison County officials say they're ready, if necessary, to open a shelter. But that decision will come later, as we get closer to Gordon's landfall.
