BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The American Cancer Society kicked off "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of the Mississippi Gulf Coast" with their  Glitz! Glam! Cure! Kickoff Breakfast on Wednesday morning.

At the IP Casino Resort and Spa, the group shared details about its upcoming community walk. Kelly Bennett and Walter Brown from Magic 93.7 and IHeartRadio served as emcees.

The kickoff highlighted how individuals, businesses, and organizations can support the American Cancer Society's work to help save lives from breast cancer and feature inspirational stories from breast cancer survivors.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a year-round effort to raise awareness and funds to end breast cancer, while providing hope to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone. Since 1993, more than 14 million supporters have raised more than $872 million nationwide.

"From research to education, prevention to diagnosis, and treatment to recovery, we provide support to those impacted by breast cancer. "The sight of thousands of people in pink coming together to support each other by donating their time and money to help save lives from breast cancer means so much to everyone there and is a sight you won't soon forget," said Liz Gaulke, American Cancer Society Community Development Manager.

WLOX is a proud sponsor of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. For additional details about the 13th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on October 20th in Biloxi and information on how you can get involved as a team, sponsor or to volunteer at the Mississippi Gulf Coast walk, visit MakingStridesWalk.org/msgulfcoast or call the American Cancer Society at 228-896-8936.
