JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The East Central Hornets 12-year-old baseball team is in Branson, Missouri playing in the 2018 Cal Ripken Major70 World Series. The Southwest region champs are in Group C with Kentucky, New York and Hawaii.

The Hornets are only the second Mississippi team to ever qualify for the Cal Ripken World Series. You can watch the 2018 Cal Ripken Major70 World Series games online at

The boys lost their first game Sunday against Kentucky, and lost to New York Monday morning 6-3. They're still set to take on Hawaii Tuesday morning, but will be playing for the Iron Bracket.

Todd Trochessett coaches East Central. "We just have really good confidence in the games we played, and we just had a great attitude. And we just kept each other up, and that's probably the main reason why we're here,"  he said.

Sixteen teams from around the United States are in Branson for the World Series.  So are eight international squads. Tournament action started August 3. The tournament ends August 11.
