BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - It's a tour to celebrate the men and women who served and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

"On Memorial Day each year, at the Harley Davidson Factory, they run a flag up the pole, and the local Harley owners group takes it down and starts the run," said Navy veteran John Glendenning.

He is the flag bearer for the leg of the tour running from Biloxi to Pensacola.

In its ninth year, the Nation of Patriots tour made its way through Biloxi Saturday. With more than 100 riders following behind the Baton Rouge flag bearer. Daniel Owens pulled into the Harley Davidson shop on Cedar Lake Road.

That's where he and Glendenning offered a salute and an exchange, turning the tour over to the Biloxi chapter of Nation of Patriots.

"It's a tremendous honor," said Owens. "It represents all the people who have fallen and all the people serving past and present. To be able to lead the way with that many bikes behind us, people honking the horn and showing support. I got goosebumps right now just talking about it. It means a lot."

For Glendenning, it's personal.

"I spent 24 years in the Navy," he said. "That's my flag. I'll take care of it for the hundred miles I've got to take care of it."

During a brief ceremony, Boy Scouts from Ocean Springs Troop 271 took the flag and raised it up the pole. When it came back down, Glendenning took control of the flag. He had one message for anyone who is interested in taking the ride with him to Pensacola.

"They wanna ride. I don't care what they ride," Glendenning said. "We'll put their knees in the breeze over there at 8:30 in the morning, and we'll go and follow me."

The tour will make a stop in all 48 contiguous states before finally returning the Harley Factory in Wisconsin on Veterans Day.
