MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Mississippi's tax-free weekend is coming soon and will kick off this year's back-to-school shopping season.
Tax-free weekend is July 27 and July 28 for Mississippi. It ends at midnight on the 28th. The Sales Tax Holiday will apply to all purchases of clothing and footwear priced less than $100 per item.
Many stores are holding special sales to accommodate the influx of customers expected over the weekend. It is important to note that the tax holiday does not apply to any item not defined as clothing or footwear, according to the Mississippi Department of Revenue.
