PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Authorities in Pearl River County are looking for a married couple after human remains were found inside their home.

The remains were discovered after the sheriff's department received a call from concerned family members saying they had not heard from Kathleen Bowman, 61, since Mother's Day.

According to a Picayune Item article shared on Facebook by the sheriff's department, deputies went to the Bowman's home on Owl Hoot Road to do a welfare check on Kathleen, but only found her husband there. After speaking with Charles Bowman, 61, deputies were still unable to make contact with Kathleen. Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said deputies left, returning later with a search warrant for the home.

Ogden said during that search, investigators discovered what looked to be human remains. After having them tested at the Mississippi Crime Lab, it was confirmed that the remains were of human origin. Now, DNA testing is being done to confirm the identity.

At this time, detectives are actively looking for Charles and Kathleen. An arrest warrant was issued for Charles on the offenses of providing false information to a law enforcement officer and felony aggravated domestic assault. The sheriff's department said the Bowman's own a white 2006 Nissan Maxima with a handicapped Mississippi tag.
