Biloxi city leaders consider water/sewer rate increase

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Biloxi city council members held a workshop Tuesday morning to discuss proposed rate increases for water, sewer and garbage collection. City council members are considering several different rate schedules.

The administration favors a tiered approach, where the largest users would pay more of an increase. Some council members have also asked to consider a flat rate increase for all users.

Attorney Gerald Blessey spent much of the meeting comparing the various numbers and explaining the advantages and drawbacks of each.

Even with the proposed increases, utility rates in Biloxi would remain among the lowest on the coast.
