GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - If you are wondering when you will be getting the court ordered rate hike refund from Mississippi Power, that's in the hands of our state's Public Service Commission. Southern District Public Service Commissioner Steve Renfroe said the PSC staff is working on the refund order now.

Renfroe said he believes it will be voted on at the next PSC meeting on July 7.

The State Supreme Court Thursday rejected Mississippi Power Company's and the Public Service Commission's requests to rehear the court's February ruling that ordered the power company to refund close to $300 million in rate hikes to its 186,000 customers. The rate hikes were collected to help pay for the new Kemper County lignite plant.
