JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Talk about a close call. This is dashcam video from a Gautier police squad car.
Sgt. Mark Rodriguez says he was driving over the Tchoutacabouffa River on Interstate 10 early Tuesday morning when storms were scattered across South Mississippi.
He said he was nearly blinded when a huge bolt of lightning struck the bridge just in front of him.
The footage is pretty impressive, and it's rare to catch lightning at such a close range.
Rodriguez later went back to the spot where the lightning struck and found a chunk of singed concrete.
