The open meetings measure before the state legislature is long overdue. We see what can happen behind closed doors. We have the Singing River Health System with a pension plan that is under funded by $140 million. Let's open the financial records, budgets, audits and meetings.
Of course all medical records are private. And doctor recruitment discussions are exceptions. But those are exceptions. The business end of a public hospital should be open to the public.
As we've stated before, it's time we open the doors and windows to let the sunshine and the public in the board meetings for public hospitals.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org.
