The forecast called for rain. There was fear that would put a bit of a damper on the 12th annual Lizana Mardi Gras parade. But, the rain held off. Instead of raindrops, beads reigned over Lizana.

The Lizana parade rolled at 1:00 Sunday. Parade participants boarded their floats at Lizana Elementary School. From there, festive beads reigned down on Lizana along Cable Bridge Road and Moran Road. The Lizana parade ends back at the elementary school.

WLOX 24/7 meteorologist Joel Young was the grand marshal of the Lizana Mardi Gras parade.
