Tonight, the 3rd Annual Ride for Rob will roll through Gulfport. It is a free memorial ride to remember a Gulfport police officer who was killed while on-duty, and raise awareness for motorcycle safety.

Rob Curry was a lieutenant for the Gulfport Police Department. He died on August 14, 2008 in a motorcycle accident while on duty on his police motorcycle. Curry was in charge of the traffic unit at the time of his death. He was also the president of STORM, or Sobriety Trained Officers Representing Mississippi.

The ride will meet up at the Harrison County School administration building beginning at 6:30 PM. There will be a quick safety briefing and prayer, then the ride will begin by 7:30 PM.

The ride is open to the public and organizers only ask that anyone wishing to participate in the ride be respectful of the Curry family and ride in a safe manner that is respectful of the community and to the other motorists on the road.
