GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Getting a picture with the headliners at this year's Gulfport Music Festival was no easy task. Backstage security was tight, and both Ludacris and Kid Rock flew into Gulfport, arriving shortly before Saturday night's performances. But WLOX News has learned Kid Rock took time after his late night show to meet with some of the first responders who worked the show.
Members of the Gulfport Police Department took this picture with the rock star around 2am. We're told Kid Rock gave a very heartfelt thank you to all the officers for their service to their communities. He also talked about being a big supporter of our nation's military men and women.
Kid Rock has performed for American troops with the USO in Iraq and Afghanistan, and called it "a rewarding, life-changing experience."
