BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Fire crews with the Biloxi Fire Department had to leave dry land to fight a fire Wednesday afternoon.

Fire Director Joe Boney said the city's fire boat, Marine-1, and six firefighters responded to a boat fire two miles south of the old Broadwater Marina.

Boney said the engine room of the 55 foot yacht, Slow Motion, caught fire after a mechanical malfunction.

Fire officials said the blaze took about 15 minutes to extinguish, and the boat suffered only minor damage. There were no injuries.

Boney said the boat was towed back to Point Cadet Marina after the fire was put out.
