Jackson Co. Jail groundbreaking set for February 26

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - After more than a decade of planning, ground will soon be broken on the new multimillion dollar jail in Jackson County. The 752 bed jail will be built near Kenneth Avenue in Pascagoula to replace the aging facility.

Supervisors announced Monday they will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility on February 26.

The new building will cost more than $27 million to build. The jail plans have been in the works for more than 10 years.
