JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - In Ocean Springs, Zumba lovers were sweating for a good cause over the weekend. A Zumba-thon was held to raise money for the Jackson County Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM).
Zumba is a workout program that mixes Latin dance and aerobics. Instructors from all over the coast came to support the cause on Saturday.
The event organizer says she was happy to put together two of her passions exercise and animals.
"They just need help. They need donations. They need supplies and the work that they do is just commendable. I love animals. I'm looking for a cause and this is it," said Andrea Monroe.
That event was held at Dance Revolution in Ocean Springs. One hundred percent of the proceeds were given to the Jackson County Animal Shelter and HSSM.
