The primary and general elections are behind us for municipal governments in Mississippi. The voters chose a lot of new faces to lead our cities. Some of the incumbents did not seek re-election and many who did; were beaten by new comers.
As the winners take office, we hope they realize the citizens were not all that happy with the status quo. We urge those re-elected and those who will take the oath of office for the first time; to pay attention to the people you represent.
Your election is not an authorization to do as you please; rather an obligation to represent the voters' interests at city hall. If you don't act on behalf of the voters who put you in office, they will put someone else there in the next election.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to email@example.com, or post your comments below.
