MISSISSIPPI SOUND (WLOX) - Three people were injured Friday after their boat exploded and caught fire between Petit Bois Island and Bayou Cassotte, off the coast of Pascagoula.

The captain of a passing boat spotted the 21 foot pleasure craft explode and rescued the three from the water. According to the Coast Guard, all three suffered burns, one person was also cut on the leg.

The good Samaritan captain is bringing the victims to shore, where an ambulance is standing by at Poipievin Street.

The Coast Guard has a boat headed to the damaged vessel to put out the fire and stabilize it.
