D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - D'Iberville Police say Harrison County Constable Windy Swetman, Senior ran a stop sign Thursday night sending a three-year-old child to the hospital. The accident happened at West Gay Road at Highway 67 around 8pm.

Police say Swetman broadsided a pickup truck with three people inside. The child was thrown from her car seat, but was not ejected from the truck. She was taken to Biloxi Regional Medical Center as a precaution.

Swetman suffered minor injuries in the crash, but did not go to the hospital. Police Chief Wayne Payne told WLOX News Swetman called his son, Harrison County Supervisor Windy Swetman, III, to take him home.

Payne said Swetman was driving his personal vehicle, which he uses in his job as county constable.

Swetman received a citation for failure to have proof of insurance in the car. The accident is still under investigation.
