Morgan Howard has always had a passion for writing. She graduated from Belhaven University with a major in Electronic Communications and a minor in Sociology. She was born and raised in Tennessee and in her spare time she rescues animals in and around the Jackson metro area. She hopes to use her writing to help and advocate for those overlooked in the world.
Several new laws are taking effect Monday in Mississippi, including one that gives a pay raise to teachers and two that are designed to ease burdens on people who face court fines or who are trying to find jobs after having a criminal conviction.
The board will meet Thursday to discuss options. Staff proposes the board consider taking over either the Humphreys County and Yazoo City districts, or the Amite County and Jefferson County districts, or the Clarksdale district.
The current closures are a continuation of a 2017 report from federal inspectors who determined many bridges in the state were deficient. The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) worked with State Aid and MDOT to schedule repairs or closures.
