Woman says protest was free speech after arrest for allegedly blocking robot’s path
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A Philadelphia woman was arrested after allegedly blocking the path of a delivery robot.
Police said witnesses called to report a disturbance earlier this month between Carolyn Marvin and an Uber delivery robot in Philadelphia.
“I have been protesting them whenever I saw them by standing in front of them and preventing them from going forward,” Marvin said.
Police said Marvin was arrested for disorderly conduct after she ignored officer commands to move out of the robot’s path.
Marvin said she was there “to publicly demonstrate on a public sidewalk my protest against delivery robots.”
Marvin said she believes her actions are protected free speech and plans to keep protesting the robots.
