NBA champion to become JSU men’s basketball general manager

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Another big hire has reportedly been made alongside new Jackson State men’s basketball head coach Trey Johnson, who was hired on April 15 and officially announced on May 4.
On Friday, it was announced that former NBA player Kendrick Perkins would be joining the program as the general manager.

JSU confirmed the new hire to WLBT Sports on Friday.
Perkins, an ESPN analyst, will “have a connection” with the school’s broadcast and journalism program.
Perkins enjoyed 14 seasons in the NBA, winning the NBA Championship during the 2007-2008 season with the Boston Celtics.
