Two men identified in Pearl River drowning
Authorities say the men were pulled from the water by family members before deputies arrived

PEARL RIVER, La. (WVUE) - The St. Tammany Parish Coroner has identified two men who died Wednesday (June 17) after being pulled from the water at the Lock One Navigational Canal near Pearl River.
The victims are Richard Robertson, 67, of Brandon, Mississippi, and Hugh Parker, 76, of Madison, Mississippi. The coroner ruled both men died of drowning. The manner of death is accidental.
Emergency responders were called to the area after receiving reports that two people were unresponsive after entering the water near the lock.
Authorities said family members who were with the men pulled them from the water before deputies arrived.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel immediately began life-saving measures. Both men were taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The incident remains under investigation.
