BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) — Several communities on the Coast will commemorate the 75th National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7.

The day was first proclaimed by Harry Truman in 1952 and was later moved to the first Thursday in May by President Ronald Reagan.

Here is a list of prayer services happening across South Mississippi:

BAY ST. LOUIS: Prayer on the courthouse steps, Hancock County Courthouse, 12 p.m.

BILOXI: National Day of Prayer event, Biloxi City Hall, 5:30 p.m.

D’IBERVILLE: National Day of Prayer event, D’Iberville City Hall, 10:30 a.m.

GAUTIER: National Day of Prayer event, Veterans Tribute Tower, 12 p.m.

GULFPORT: National Day of Prayer ceremony, Jones Park, 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

LONG BEACH: National Day of Prayer observance, Long Beach City Hall, 12:15 p.m.

MOSS POINT: National Day of Prayer ceremony, Moss Point City Hall, 12 p.m.

OCEAN SPRINGS: National Day of Prayer event, Greyhound Stadium, 6:30 P.M.

PASCAGOULA: National Day of Prayer event, Jackson County Courthouse, 12 p.m.

VANCLEAVE: National Day of Prayer event, Home of Grace Chapel on the men’s campus, Ceremony at 12 p.m., followed by lunch at 1 p.m.

WIGGINS: National Day of Prayer ceremony, Stone County Courthouse, 10 a.m.
