MGCCC Jackson County campus upgrades student fitness center

JACKSON CO., Miss. (WLOX) - Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County campus held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to unveil upgrades made to the student fitness center.

MGCCC officials stated that new weight room equipment was added to energize the campus community and inspire fitness.

The event celebrated the college’s investment in student health and wellness programs.

“We put a lot of emphasis on health and wellness here at Gulf Coast Community College, mental health as well as physical health, and so we’re investing in that and making sure that our students understand how important we think that is,” said Michelle Sekul, dean of student services at the Jackson County campus.

“Obviously, school is stressful, and there’s no better way to work off stress than to work up a sweat.”

The administration hopes that the new improvements will motivate more students to be active.
