SAUCIER, Miss. (WLOX) - The Rapiscan Systems Classic Pro-Am began Wednesday morning and continued through Thursday, getting the course warmed up for Friday’s first round. It’s a loaded field this year - including some familiar faces, but at a new place, as Grand Bear hosts the 2022 edition.

Reigning champion Kevin Sutherland took the 2019 crown in a playoff that went seven holes into Monday morning after there wasn’t enough daylight on Sunday to determine a winner. He’s never seen Grand Bear before, but upon seeing it earlier this week, he liked what he saw.

“Yesterday was the first time [I saw it]. I didn’t know what to expect, but it was in amazing condition,” he said. “It’s a typical Nicklaus course, you know what you’re coming into a little bit. A lot of the greens sit for a cut. I’ve always enjoyed playing Nicklaus golf courses, and I feel the same way about this place.”
