Tickets now on sale for Rapiscan Systems Classic
BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Tickets are now on sale for the Rapiscan Systems Classic, which is happening next month in Saucier. The 2022 PGA Tour Champions event is taking place April 1-3 at Grand Bear Golf Club. Tickets officially went on sale Wednesday.
The tournament is limiting capacity to 500 general admission tickets sold for each day of the competition.
General admission tickets start at $20 per day. Elevated tickets such as the new Marina Cantina Club and Corona Premier Patio are also available for purchase. These allow spectators access to the hospitality venues on the 18th and 9th Greens. Children ages 17 and under are offered free general admission for all three days of the tournament.
This year’s Rapiscan Systems Classic is held at Grand Bear Golf Club for the first time in tournament history. A Jack Nicklaus design, the course was ranked as the No. 10 “Best Course Layout” in the U.S. by Golf Advisor in 2019.
The player field for this year’s event includes World Golf Hall of Fame members such as Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Bernhard Langer and Vijay Singh, as well as past champions Kevin Sutherland and Miguel Ángel Jiménez. Three-time major champion and 2021 European Ryder Cup Team Captain Pádraig Harrington also makes his tournament debut.
“Our field in 2022 is arguably the best in tournament history,” said Tournament Director, Stephen Schoettmer. “Historically, the top players love coming to the Coast to display their skills at our amazing golf courses and this year is no exception. Having commitments from four World Golf Hall of Fame members, winners of 23 major championships and four green jackets illustrates how excited the players are that this event is finally returning to Coastal Mississippi.”
After the 2020 and 2021 events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rapiscan Systems Classic continued its charitable mission, helping raise over $2.3 million for South Mississippi nonprofits in the last two years. Since becoming the title sponsor in 2018, Rapiscan Systems has helped raise over $3.3 million for charities in Coastal Mississippi.
“The return of the Rapiscan Systems Classic means a great deal to our community,” said Jonathan Jones, Tournament Foundation Board President. “Between the significant economic impact this event brings, along with the national attention it garners through the Golf Channel telecast, we have greatly missed hosting this tournament the last two years, and look forward to welcoming the PGA TOUR Champions players back to Coastal Mississippi.”
