Suspect charged in double homicide of two men in Moss Point
MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) - Moss Point Police are still investigating after a shooting Tuesday morning left two men dead and another injured.
Officers were called just after 8:30am to a house in the 6000 block of Elder Street. With a crowd quickly amassing outside the home, investigators went inside. There, they found 43-year-old Willie Hurd who appeared to have been shot in the foot.
After Hurd told officers there were other shooting victims inside, investigators located 38 -year-old Tremaine Moore and 42-year-old Marcus Davison. Both men were dead from apparent gunshot wounds, said Police Chief Brandon Ashley.
As investigators taped the house off, the crowd continued to grow. Around 11:30am with police still on the scene, multiple gunshots were fired, sending people running and taking cover. Those gunshots were fired from a housing project just a few hundred feet away from the crime scene, Chief Ashley said. It was still unclear Tuesday afternoon if they were related to the double homicide on Elder Street.
Hurd was taken to the hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound to his foot. After being released that afternoon, Hurd was immediately arrested and charged with possession of a felony amount of marijuana, which police say was found in his home during the execution of a search warrant.
