UPDATE: Suspect arrested in connection with early morning Gulfport shooting
GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - A suspect that was wanted on aggravated assault in connection with one of the two early morning Gulfport shootings is now in custody.
According to authorities, 29-year-old Lincoln Lee Mays has been located and arrested. Police say Mays and a victim got into a verbal argument when Mays shot his gun, hitting the victim multiple times, then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Police are also investigating a second shooting that happened in the 600 block of 28th Street. Around 3:31 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police say there was a fight that took place in the parking lot of the Sugar Shack that escalated into gunfire. The victim who was shot was taken to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
