PICAYUNE, Miss. (WLOX) - An ongoing altercation between a group of teenagers in Picayune has resulted in three juveniles being shot, said authorities.
The shooting happened just after 4 p.m. Sunday at the Grand Oak Apartment Complex on South Haugh Avenue, said Picayune Police Chief Freddy Drennan.
Following previous conflict over the last week or so, one of the juveniles walked up to a group of teenagers on Sunday, pulled a gun, and started firing, said the police chief.
Three of the victims were struck in the legs by gunfire and were taken to Highland Park Hospital in Picayune, said Drennan. All three victims had non-life threatening injuries but were later flown to a New Orleans hospitals for treatment, the police chief added.
The teenager who allegedly shot the victims has not yet been arrested.
Drennan said investigators have not yet found any evidence to indicate that this shooting was gang-related.
