GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Magnolia State Apartments in Gulfport was quiet Sunday morning, which is a completely different scene from Saturday night after two women and one three-year-old boy were shot.

Gulfport Police have not released new information regarding a lead, but one resident shared exclusive details of what happened.

“On the end here, it was blood everywhere, I cleaned this up,” said Robert Clay, a resident at the apartment complex.

Clay described what it was like outside his apartment door moments after the shooting. Several blood stains were left behind at the apartment complex, especially near Clay’s apartment. Other residents said the shooting happened near the courtyard of the complex. Many said the victims did not live at the apartment, but would come visit. However, Saturday night’s visit was the first in several months.

Clay said moments after hearing multiple rounds of gunshots, he heard a knock at his door, and it was one of the victims that had been shot, begging him to call 911.

“I called 911,” Clay said. “Then she told me she was shot in her shoulder and her side. The building up front there, that’s where she ran from.”

Robert Clay said the victim who showed up at his doorstep, covered in blood was his goddaughter and he let her in his apartment with no hesitation.

“Look like her hand, the left hand, was shot off almost,” Clay said. “Then she walked back up there. She was shot in three places and she was stronger than I ever seen. Because I’ve seen a man get shot and she wasn’t crying or nothing she was just worried about her mom and that baby.”

According to Clay, after he called for help, his goddaughter then ran back near the courtyard of the complex where the shooting took place, to check on the other two victims. Clay said his goddaughter just bought a new vehicle and kept telling him she didn’t know why someone would shoot her and the others because she wasn’t feuding with anyone.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959. Anonymous tips can also be made to Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers online or by calling 877-787-5898.
