No Mardi Gras parades? You can still let the good times roll in 2021

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - With no Mardi Gras parades this Carnival season thanks to COVID-19, the Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum and the Gulf Coast Carnival Association have come up with a fun way to celebrate without catching beads.

The museum staff is getting ready for the Mardi Yardi and Laissez Bon Temp to Geaux experiences.

“We really want you to celebrate at home, with your family. We have a contest called the Yardi Party,” said Anna Harris, museum executive director. “We hope that businesses and people at home will decorate their porches and facades in the Mardi Gras fashion and get out all your purple, green and gold.

“We’re also offering a Laissez Bon Temp to Geaux box. It’s going to have everything you need to celebrate at home. It’s going to have your king cake, a lot of fun accessories you can decorate your home with. We have to cancel the parades, you have to be safe and take care of our community, but we can still celebrate.”

The Laissez Bon Temp to Geaux boxes cost $100, while the winners of the contest will be announced on Lundi Gras, the day before Fat Tuesday.
