GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Inside the kitchen of Salute, freshly cooked healthy meals are being prepared for distribution, but not for customers dining in. Instead Salute owner, Rob Stinson, said the meal prep service helps people enjoy a stress free, healthy meal, at their convenience.
“Our basic menu is a low fat, low cholesterol, low sugar diet,” said Stinson. “If someone is told by their cardiologist, you’ve got to change the way they eat or else, we give them a real alternative that is absolutely affordable and reliable.”
Salute is working closely with Memorial Hospital to supply healthy meals to patients and healthcare workers to enjoy while tirelessly working long shifts.
“I think it’s incredible because this food, in those boxes that you’ll see, can be microwaved at their office in the hospital and they get great food instead of fast food,” said Stinson. “We’re serving elderly. People that are coming and finding from their doctor that they have a dietary restriction. It’s amazing how it branched out.”
For the last two years, Salute’s meal prep service catered to personal orders, but now thanks to the partnership with Memorial Hospital, Stinson is hopeful that these fresh meals will help even more people modify their diet.
“It’s a huge increase in that focus on health for one, and now with our local tie in with Memorial Hospital, I see the growth as being explosive,” said Stinson. “People are really finding out that they have to change the way they eat.”
