D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) - More space to work, more patients to process. Memorial Hospital in Gulfport’s COVID-19 testing site in D’Iberville opened Wednesday just off Automall Parkway, which meant business was back to normal at Memorial’s Popp’s Ferry Road clinic in Biloxi.
At the Kenny Fournier Multi Purpose building in D’Iberville, doors opened up to a couple of lines of cars with those seeking COVID-19 testing.
“It provides an opportunity for the clinic we pulled out of to go back to normal operation,” said Eddie Maddox, MHG practice manager. “Right now the focus is getting this COVID-19 traffic under control.”
With the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, more space was needed so the Memorial staff could take on the extra volume of patients. They say sometimes up to 130 extra cars per day, and on day one at the new location, the volume continued to be high.
“It provides a lot of opportunity for us to get this done,” said Maddox. “We had the City of D’Iberville line cones back around the D’Iberville Civic Center and pulls back around to this building. The traffic will flow, it just feels like it will flow much better so this is a perfect building for this type of event.”
The clinic in D’Iberville is open from 8a.m. to 4p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.
