Ingalls reports highest number of coronavirus cases to date

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) - Ingalls Shipbuilding is reporting its highest number of coronavirus cases in a single day.

The shipyard reported 31 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday in the Pascagoula shipyard.

It’s the highest number reported by the facility to date. Previously, the highest jump in new cases was reported on Wednesday when 28 employees reported positive test results.

The record-number of cases at Ingalls comes on the same day Jackson County reported 71 new cases.

In the past seven days, Ingalls has reported a total of 118 new cases. In all since the pandemic began in March, the shipyard has reported 296 cases. Of those, 117 employees have been cleared to return to work, leaving the shipyard with 179 employees still out due to the virus.
