BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - You still have one week left to enjoy some ice skating at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

A lot of friends and family shared smiles and laughter for the last week of ice skating on the Gulf Coast.

Rashad Houston said though some people like to play video games or even party, ice skating is his therapy.

“Oh, I look up everywhere ever I go, I need an ice ring. So I looked it up and this was the closest one, and I never been to a coliseum before. It was a good mix for my love and a coliseum,” Houston said.

The staff said they began setting up around mid-November and they get about 200 people each session.

Both Sean and Virginia Fonseca compare regular skating to ice skating and agree ice skating requires more technique.

“Definitely not regular skating. It’s a little bit harder. Haven’t fell yet though. It’s all about balance and watching. We’ve wobbled, slipped, and slide,” they said.

For some, this was their first time ice skating. First-timers not so comfortable on the ice purchased a little seal for guidance.

After skating if you’re hungry, Coastal Cravings have pizza, popcorn and even hot chocolate topped with whip cream to keep you warm

Families are even traveling from near and far, some from Louisiana and Texas.

Ice skating is available until Jan. 5. Tickets are $12. You can find more details are the coliseum’s website.
