Family, friends hold vigil nearly a week after Moss Point double homicide

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) - Sunday marks one week since two people were found dead inside a home in Moss Point. Family and friends are pleading for the public’s help in solving the case.

A candlelight vigil and balloon release was held Saturday night for George Kirkland and Asia Norman.

“Just to show them that we love them. We still support everything that’s going on through everything that’s being said. Just to know that we’re going to miss them," said Kirkland’s brother Jonathan.

Kirkland and Norman were found murdered inside a home on Old Slag Road last Sunday. Dozens of family members and friends gathered at the site of the double homicide for the vigil.

“It’s been hard man, especially in the mornings because that’s when I usually see him most of the time," Jonathan said.

“It’s been a hurting feeling. We have to put it things in God’s hands," added Norman’s great-aunt Kaffie Taylor.

Norman’s family said she was five months pregnant.

Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley hasn’t said how the two died but is asking for anyone with information to come forward. A third victim who hasn’t been identified was rushed to Singing River Hospital and was last listed in critical condition.

“It’s terrible. I get to myself and put my own emotions out there, but I don’t like to do it in front of people as much, be strong for my family and my mom," Jonathan said.

Relatives said Kirkland lived in the home on Old Slag Road. They also said he and Norman were dating.

It’s been hard on those who loved the two.

“I just hope and pray that whoever did this will get theirs," Taylor said.

“It’s heartbreaking with my children. They ask about Uncle George," Jonathan said. "They don’t have an understanding that they won’t see their uncle again.”

They’re hoping someone with information will come forward to help solve the case.

Investigators haven’t named any suspects in the case. If you have information that could help catch a killer, call the Moss Point Police Department at 228-475-1711, or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
