MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) - A 32-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman have been identified as the victims in a double homicide that happened over the weekend in Moss Point.
George Kirkland and Asia Norman were found dead Sunday morning in a house on Old Slag Road. Authorities have not yet said how the two died, however, Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley did say they were found dead for “obvious trauma.”
Ashley said Kirkland, Norman, and a third victim were found around 7:30 a.m. Sunday. The third victim suffered critical injuries and was taken to Singing River Hospital. As of 3:42 p.m. Monday, she was still in critical condition.
Chief Ashley told WLOX this was not a random act of violence and the victims were targeted for reasons that are un
known at this time. The chief also said the house where the murders took place has a history of alleged criminal activity ranging from drugs to larceny.
Police have not developed a suspect at this time, said Ashley, but do not have any reason to believe the public is in any danger. According to Chief Ashley, investigators have received a few credible tips from the public in the last 36 hours which they are following up on.
There have been rumors of surveillance footage that might show the car the suspect used to leave the scene, but Chief Ashley said they are not aware of any video.
