D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) - While much of a graduating senior’s attention is to the future, one tradition looks to their past.
D’Iberville Elementary School celebrated with graduates during their senior walk through the halls of their old schools.
Students and teachers decorated the halls and showed a lot of pride in the graduates.
“It was a nice surprise,” said graduating senior Alexia McHarg. “The elementary school had it rocking out for us.”
The teachers were celebrating as much as the students.
“I felt a great sense of pride today, and I know a lot of other teachers at this school feel the same way,” said Amy Lechner, who taught at D’Iberville Elementary School for years. “It takes a lot to get kids to this step in high school. It’s about building relationships and about them gaining confidence at a very early age, and we are very proud to see all our former students to come walk through these hallways.”
D’Iberville High’s graduation ceremony will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
