BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The Bulldogs rolled into the coast today for their annual “Road Dawgs Tour” . The fan-friendly event took place at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino.
Mississippi State alumni and fans were able to gather together, enjoy a scrumptious buffet dinner, and get the chance to meet and greet the main speaker, second-year head football coach Joe Moorhead.
Moorhead headlined the event, signing autographs, taking pictures and conversing with everyone before getting on stage to speak about the tour, adjusting to the south after a full year on the job, and -of course - football.
Moorhead spoke with WLOX about how the team was doing after their spring training session and what he expects heading into year two.
“Big focus for us was losing so much personality. We’re going to have to be a team that plays with great chemistry and unity," Moorhead said."
"We needed to build our identity. In year two, it’s not just about the whats, it’s the hows and the whys, so kind of taking that next step and next level in our understanding and learning of the three phases in our culture. With the 15 opportunities, I think we took advantage of them.”
Mississippi State open their 2019 football season in New Orleans Saturday, August 31st against Louisiana-Lafayette at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Kickoff time for the game has yet to be announced.
