Gulfport man found guilty in 2016 shooting death

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - A Gulfport man was found guilty Wednesday night in the case of a 2016 fatal shooting.

Deandre Dashawn-Antonio Ball, of Gulfport, was found guilty of first-degree murder shooting and killing Trevues Martin in 2016.

Officers responded to the scene in front of a home in the 3900 block of Monterey Drive around 9:45 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2016, where they found Martin dead in the front seat of a vehicle.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said Martin was shot in the head.

Ball, now 22, was determined as a suspect during the course of the investigation. He turned himself in to Biloxi police nearly a month after Martin’s death.

Another suspect, Kalisha Crockett, was indicted on a charge of accessory after the fact in connection to Martin’s death.

Ball’s charge carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
